John is a freediver and scuba diver who lives in Bend, Oregon. John discovered the beauty of diving in British Columbia through his close association with Kirk Krack and Performance Freediving International, for whom John has been an instructor since 2014.

From freediving the annual Salmon Swim, to diving the local wrecks, to whale watching and hiking the Juan de Fuca trail, John has met many enthusiastic divers on Vancouver Island who share their love of the area’s amazing outdoor adventures.

As a licensed attorney, John helps support the EDSBC in areas from organizational compliance to risk management and general advice and counsel. John works in the field of international disaster response and is a licensed EMT and certified Diver Medic, skills that come in handy on various overseas adventures like the first descent freedive expedition to explore the WW2 shipwrecks in Truk Lagoon led by Kirk Krack in 2017.
